Sucker Punch

Honestly, since I first saw the posters for this film, which was about half a year ago, I automatically knew it was going to be awesome. I saw it on Saturday, and I was blow away by the movie. Not only by the special effects, which are obviously the hype of all Zack Snyder movies but by the story also. Although it has a pretty predictable story (girl ends up in an asylum and plans to escape from it) the execution and the ending leave you asking for more. I wasn't really impressed with the performances of all the actors but overall, it has decent acting and if we consider the fact that this movie is above all an eye candy, the acting takes a second place in reviewing it.
Ever since i was a little girl, I obsessed with cartoons that contained kick ass females (She Ra, Princess Starla, Usagi Tsukino etc) and that obsession stays with me even now when I'm a so called grown person. So if we know this, we can somewhat explain my exaggerated enthusiasm with Sucker Punch. I can freely say that I have waited my entire life for something like this to be made. A movie that has kick ass, hot, strong, independent women who on the other hand have really tragic and sad stories (just goes to show that this movie does indeed have a depth).
Zack Snyder sure did an awesome job. His recognizable style does a great job setting this movie in a aliceinwonderlandish sinister asylum scenery. I must highlight the fact that his inspiration must have been the highly acclaimed horror game American McGee's Alice, the tagline is "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns", thus the reference. Anyway, the CGI in the movie was astonishing, certain scenes were shot in such a way that you had a feeling you were playing a game (and when they publish the game... boy the fangirlism...). The obvious amount of CGI does not deprive the movie of its depth as many have said, but shows what an amazing artist Snyder is. Sucker Punch's every frame is a masterpiece, an epic spectacle. This + a very well developed story and equally developed characters make this movie very enjoyable and fun. Many movie experts have criticized the film, calling it "nothing more than a magnet for nerdy boys" and "barely tolerable" also claiming that Snyder "can't write a screenplay". I have said to myself: "You are not going to swear in this post", so I cant's really comment on these utterly disgusting remarks. I can only assume that these people have no clue how much work had to be done for this movie to look the way it looks. As I am getting low on eloquent words and overall enthusiasm to finish this review in a decent way so I'm only going to say this: If you are a girl, you must see this movie IT IS YOUR DUTY AS A BEARER OF OVARIES!

P.S. Great job on the soundtrack
